Squeezing for healing
نویسنده
چکیده
chicken chemokine can help heal wounds by inducing fibroblasts to become myofibroblasts, according to results reported by Feugate et al. on page 161. The contractile myofibroblasts help close the wound by pulling together the necessary cells and matrix. Chemokines are better known for their activities in the immune system, but increased production of chicken chemotactic and angiogenic factor (cCAF) has also been observed during wound healing. Now Feugate et al. report that cCAF reduces fibroblast proliferation by 25%, not by increasing cell death, but by inducing differentiation of fibroblasts into myofibroblasts. The differentiated cells make -smooth muscle actin ( -SMA), and have an increased ability to contract a collagen gel. Regular application of cCAF to a chicken wound accelerates the early stages of wound healing by almost two days. The authors suggest that a peptide mimetic might accelerate wound healing in humans, whereas a cCAF antagonist might reduce the scar-inducing numbers of myofibroblasts in conditions such as scleroderma.

Perturbation-Iteration Algorithm for Solving Heat and Mass Transfer in the Unsteady Squeezing Flow between Parallel Plates
In this paper, heat and mass transfer in the unsteady squeezing flow between parallel plates is analyzed using a perturbation-iteration algorithm. The similarity transformation is used to transform the governing partial differential equations into ordinary differential equations, before being solved. The solutions of the velocity, temperature and concentration are derived and sketched to explai...
متن کاملA Study of Entanglement and Squeezing of
We study entanglement and squeezing of a cluster of spin systems under the influence of the two-axis countertwisting Hamiltonian. The squeezing parameters given by Wineland et al and also by Kitagawa et al. are chosen as the criteria of spin squeezing. The criterion of pairwise entanglement is chosen to be the concurrence and that of the bipartite entanglement the linear entropy. We also define...

Background & Aims: The aim of this study was to compare trapezius squeezing and jaw thrust to evaluate suitable conditions for laryngeal mask airway (LMA) insertion. Materials & Methods: In this clinical trial study, 138 patients with ASA physical status 1 or 2 who were candidates for elective surgery of shin fracture were randomly assigned into one of the groups of trapezius squeeze and raisi...
متن کاملComputer extended series and HAM for the solution of non-linear Squeezing flow of Casson fluid between parallel plates
The paper presents analysis of two-dimensional non-Newtonian incompressible viscous flow between parallel plates. The governing problem of momentum equations are reduced to NODE using similarity transformations. The resulting equation is solved using series solution and homotopy analysis method. These methods have advantages over pure numerical methods for obtaining the derived quantities accur...
متن کاملDead cells get the squeeze
acrophages can clean up the detritus of dying cells. But that, say Jody Rosenblatt, Martin Raff, and Louise Cramer (University College London, London, UK), is not the whole story. They have found that cells undergoing apoptosis in an epithelial sheet signal to their neighbors to begin squeezing, in a process that maintains the barrier function of the epithelium while extruding the dying cell. M...
متن کاملAnalysis of squeezing flow of viscous fluid under the influence of slip and magnetic field: comparative studies of different approximate analytical methods
The various industrial and engineering applications of flow of fluid between parallel plates have continued to generate renewed interests. In this work, a comparative study of approximate analytical methods is carried out using differential transformation, homotopy perturbation, Adomian decomposition, variation of parameter and variational iteration methods for the analysis of a steady two-dimen...
